Missouri Governors Achievement award
On Sunday the 14th of August at the Missouri State Fair recognition was given to veterans for their Vietnam service. Greg Davis one of our own Marine Corps 1254 members, and Doc Ballard, a Navy corpsman and Medal Of Honor recipient were the guests of honor. Both spoke to the crowd and were presented with the Governors Achievement Award from Governor Jay Nixon.
Three Generals and a retired Rear Admiral were also guest speakers and applauded and rrecognized the valor and integrity of both guests of honor, and all Vietnam Veterans. Along with many veterans and families in the audience, there were more than 250 cyclists from the Patriot Guard, American Legion Riders and many other veteran organizations showing their respect for the Vietnam vets. They entered the main arena, surrounding the main stage after being escorted into the arena by the Missouri Highway Patrol, and racked their pipes at the same time to let everyone know they were there.
Thank you Greg Davis and Doc Ballard for your service.
